Stock starter worked just fine for me with my Kooks. Also, you can still change the oil filter without unbolting anything, although it takes a bit of craziness to get it in and out.

See my thread on Kooks vs. Hookers for a comparison.

I didnt coat mine because yeah i think its a waste of money on those quality of headers. The stainless steel also hold up more heat inside than standard metal.Of course my engine bay is a little more hotter than the stock manifold. But when i compare it to the pacessetter coated than my buddy got i dont see a really big difference in term of temp.

Im able to take the 1/3/5/7 and 2/4/8 with the modified shorter socket and a open wrench mostly from the top without any problem. The only one that is a real pita is the no 6

Also whats the problem with the starter im running a stock one and it clear without any trouble?

i heard that you have to run a lt4 starter with these headers, is that true?? Or will the stock starter work just a pta??

yes, uncoated, stainless steel all 900.00 worth
They worth every penny and the fittement is perfect except for the steering linkage that need to be shaved a little.

Use some good headers gasket,i use standard FELPRO 1406 and they seal perfectly with some 1" stainless steel ARP headers bolts.

You can run a stock starter without any problem of clearance.

Something else....I run a Canton oil pan...bye bye low oil sending sensor and I had to get an oil relocation kit.

If you guy do not have the stepped headers but the normal 1-3/4" headers, you did not have the problems that the stepped headers bring.

Your 1 7/8" stepped Kooks look really great! I have the 1 3/4" Kooks and really like them, but now that I have the 396 and AFR heads sometimes I wish I had got the stepped Kooks. Also, I'm running dual open collectors w/ 18" extensions on my bracket car.

Plug #6 is tough, the sun, moon and earth have to be in proper alignment to get #6 out/in.

And, yes as mention preiously you'll have to plug the low-oil sensor. Canton has the plug in stock.
