Knock sensor stripped! How do I get it out?

I finally got around to changing out my knock sensor and it stripped, which is not letting me get it out of the block. It not the threads that got stripped, but the actual knock sensor itself. The knock sensor is two pieces: one being the the outter shell the actually screws into the block, then you have the center piece that has the built in nut that enables you to screw it in to the block. By looking at the knock sensor it looks like the outter shell is only held to the center part by little notches. So, tonight when I went to change out the knock sensor, the center piece that has the nut just kept spinning and the outter shell stayed still. I tried to use a pair of big pliers to get around of the outter shell, but no luck on getting it to come loose. I'm afraid to bust it; thats the last thing that I want is for it to bust off into the engine. I hope I explained it clear enough for you guys to understand what it is I'm saying. If you guys could give me some ideas that I could benefit from I would greatly accept it. I'm sitting here at my computer waiting for some replies

Heat. Heat it up as much as possible (small torch) and get it with channel locks.

What would the heat do? I can get a heat torch from my grandpa's tomorrow. If the motor was out of the car I could probably get it out in 5 minutes, but I'm not that fortunate. I just sprayed some liquid wrench on it, so I'll try again wiht the pliers.

You break the outer(electrial) part off with channel locks or dykes. Then put a box end wrench on the hex part and take it out.Break ALL the outer part off or cut the banding off with wire cutters and it will leave a nubbin stuck out there as to what you see between the electric part and the block where the hex is for the wrench.Just unscrew it.If the hex is rounded use vice grips to unscrew it.
Just don't pull sideways hard enough when breaking that you break it off in the block.(not likely)

Ya gonna get wet if you don't drain the radiator.

I gave up for tonight, I'll try again in the morning. I'll let you guys know what happens.

Re: Knock sensor stripped! How do I get it out?

Well this morning I was able to get it out. I took the starter out which enabled me to get a big pair of pliers around the outside of the knock sensor. I put the new one in and it didn't change a thing wiht how my car ran. I checked everything with my meter and the PCM was reading 4.77 v at the D22 pin. The knock sensor was reading the right resistence(4000ohms). So, I gues that means that it is either the wire or the knock module in the PCM. I changed the knock module with LT4 KM about a year and half ago. I'll keep you guys updated with it. I have to order another LT4 KM and wait for it to arrive.
