knock sensor size?

Anybody know what size bolt the knock sensor is? The bolt is huge and the biggest thing I got in a deep socket in metric is a 18mm, so im just trying to figure out what size socket to buy cuz I know i'm probably never gonna need a socket this large for anything else..

Allways used 21mm deep socket with those, I got a new one though that was 22mm so maybe they just recently changed. This size would come in handy for suspension work too.

i used a 7/8" socket on mine, but the inside part of the sensor started spinning. apparently in this case you need to find a way to get some vice grips around the outside part of the sensor and wrench it off (im in the middle of doing it right now -PITA!)

yeah, 7/8" would be way too big, even if it was a 22mm sensor, 7/8" would come out to 22.225mm which would for sure slip.

Re: knock sensor size?

7/8 fit perfect, but the inner part started spinning (it wasn't slipping, just spinning the inside of the sensor). I had to pull the starter just to get a pair of visegrips in there and turn the sensor.
