Remove plastic piece in front of radiator or not?
Remove plastic piece in front of radiator or not?
just wondered your thoughts. is it ok to remove the plastic piece that goes in front of the radiator/condenser or not? my buddy did it in his TA and you can see the radiator/condenser from the engine bay if you look straight down behind the washer fluid tank. it seems like this could be ok or maybe it redirects some of the air up into the engine bay as well but will it take away from the airflow going through my radiator/condenser/tranny cooler?
Re: Remove plastic piece in front of radiator or not?
I have never had mine in the car, but I no longer have AC i beleive the plastic acted like a holder for the radiator. I saw no negative effects from removing the plastic peice.
Re: Remove plastic piece in front of radiator or not?
All the plastic parts in front, top and to the sides of the radiator are there to direct flow into the radiator. Since it is a bottom feeder, these parts are important.
Re: Remove plastic piece in front of radiator or not?
Lol i have no pieces on front of mine...just the paint chipped ta bumper cover, which im waiting for it to collapse with abosolutely no support inside it.
Re: Remove plastic piece in front of radiator or not?
If you remove it, you will have problems. Those that have removed it just haven't been in the specific situation where the radiator got maxed out. One of the common threads is overheating problems AFTER the install of a body kit and they just change the airflow a tiny bit. These LT1's are very sensitive to heat issues.... not worth breaking a motor to me.
Re: Remove plastic piece in front of radiator or not?
Probably not a good idea on a stock car.
Having said that, I don,t have any on my car.
BUT, my car has no AC and the front bumper support is gone along with the fog lights so my rad and tranny cooler get a straight shot of air through the fog light openings.
I run a 160 stat as well and have no overheating problems even in 90 degree heat.
