Knock Retard at idle and random times
Knock Retard at idle and random times
I have been getting random knock on my scanmaster lately and would like to get it figured out. Sometimes at start-up I get knock (up to 5 degrees, because that is the max programed in the computer) and then it goes away. While driving the knock is gone, but when I am stoped in gear at idle the knock shows up again and does not go away until I give it some gas while stoped, or as I begin to drive off. The knock at idle seems more to be more prevelant when the car is warmed up rather than a cold motor. Any ideas would GREATLY be appreciated. Thanks
The car is a 97 Z28 A4. Mods include 224/236 .536 .555 114lsa cam, 2800 stall, LT headers, 1.6 RR's, LT4 KM, and many other bolt ons.

Re: Knock Retard at idle and random times
Check your wire first and see if there is any burnt one I had same problem wires on passenger side running along side with the headers was giving me knock retard because it burned thru after 4 years of headers being on car... then I would check valvetrain see if there is any rocker arms loose then I would check on getting a lt4 knock module. And then if it keeps on doing that you need to check your knock sensor on the block....
Re: Knock Retard at idle and random times
I agree, Like the above said. You know its false knock, I personally dont think the lt4 km helps any but hey you already have it. Check those things first and if nothing checks out I say you turn the bastards off.
Re: Knock Retard at idle and random times
I know that the wires on the passenger side are really close to the header so i will look into that. What wire got burned, the KS wire? Thanks again.
