Knock Module replacement
Where is the knock module on a 95 Z28 and is it wise to replace it? I have read that the LT4 module is the way to go. If this is true where can one be purchased? My car has 93,000 miles. I have replaced the plugs and coil and will do the wires this week with accels 9000. Thanks
Re: Knock Module replacement
knock sensor is on the passenger side of the block, under the manifolds or headers.
The lt4 knock module is inside your PCM. The LT4 knock module desensitizes the response to the signal from the knock module.

Re: Knock Module replacement
it is wise if you have headers and/or roller rockers
reason is, the stock one will cut back the timing because it's detecting false knock from one of the two above (or both)
it's located in the pcm which is the grey box at the passenger side of the engine bay, all the way in the back, under the cowl sort of
pop the plate off and replace it
just unplug your battery first
i had to charge mine since i didn't unplug it before doing it (always unplug before going into electrical stuff)

Re: Knock Module replacement
The only bad info in the link below is the contact number for Cal Slabaugh.... all the other info - part #, location, etc. - is accurate.

Re: Knock Module replacement
If you get the information from Shoebox's pages, it is correct, no question. You need to be sure you understand you need the "module" and not the "sensor".
LT4 knock module - 16214681 - $27.66
