Question Knock Knock! On my LT1

Knocking has started about 2-3 weeks now. I'v had some work done to it on a past oil leak on the timing chain cover at a shop which was last fall. Its not a daily driver. I must have drove it baybe the most 20 times ever since the repair. The noise is a little bit hard to tell the exact location but it sounds like it's in the front of the engine somewere. It won't do it when I start the car, after a five minute drive you will start hearing the knocking noise.
Anyone know what it might be? I do also have march pulleys, do you think that might have something to do with it?

well, you can run the car without the serpentine belt to see if the sound goes away. If it does it's one of your accesories.

If not, knock usually is a bad sound, most likely a rod bearing. How does your oil pressure look??

Also, are you sure it's not valvetrain noise(clicking/clacking sounds)

Well I have kept an eye on the oil pressure ever since I noticed the noise, it seems to look just fine.
By removing the serpentine belt you meen just take it off and turn the car on? Should I do that after I start hearing the noise again?

Yes, when you hear the noise again, take off the belt. THen start the car. If the sound goes away, then it's a pulley, alternator, etc anything hooked to the belt.

Re: Knock Knock! On my LT1

I agree with sam.. Does the knocking get louder/more frequent as RPM increases?

I recently developed a knock as well, but only when warm. Turns out my passenger side heater is knocking against the lower A-arm, when the motor mounts heat up and start to flex a bit and sag. My mounts are shot, and due to be replaced. This should raise the engine back to correct orientation, bringing the exhaust away from the arm, and no knock
