Low oil sensor?

Well i just replaced my low oil senor because my was tripping the low oil light. Well i unscrew it to find that the end of it is missing. I have attached a link to a picture of the stock one on the left and the Borg Warner one on the right. Im sure this is why it went bad. So is this thing just floating around in my oil pan or what? Should i be worried?

Re: Low oil sensor?

Same thing happened to me. Except mine broke off in the middle of me trying to replace it because it leaked.

Everyone here basically says it's nothing to worry about because of the screen on the pickup, but I'm towing it to a shop today so they can pull the pan for me because I saw it crumble into many little bits, some of which even fell out on the ground. And I don't want to be thinking about those little bits floating around in my oil. Damnit, I need more tools so I can take everything off of my car myself.

Oh well, it was going to the same shop in 3 days anyway. They're giving me a really super price on pulling the pan so no biggie.
