Kinda skeptical about getting a torque converter...
Hey guys, I'm ordering some Jet-Hot long tubes and a CAI soon, and after that I'm gonna have some 3.73s installed. I always get told that I need a 2800 or higher stall converter because it really wakes the car up and shaves a couple tenths off ET's (with traction of course). However, I DON'T want to blow up my tranny, nor my rear. Is a 2800 stall really worth it with a stock tranny and the 10 bolt rear? I want this car to be as streetable as possible while running low 13's (with practice of course). Does the car flash the stall in every gear? Or only from a stop? Will I really notice a difference with casual, civilized driving, or will I have to launch my car at every stop light to get it moving?
Any help is appreciated.

I am running a 2400 stall in my one T/A with a mild motor and Nitrous with 3:73 gears. It slips a little but not that noticeable for evryday driving, but when racing, you can feel it hit. 2800 is very noticable and usually is used when you have a cam with higher duration.

You'll get used to it. It's not bad at all. Don't get a 2400 though. You'll regret it. Get a 2800 or 3200. Also, maybe you should think about spending the money on some wheels/tires. I just got some 15x4 and 15x8 centerline telstars from summit and 275/50/15 nitto drag radials and cheapo tires up front. Also, I got some chrome lug nuts from summit. All in all with the 10% discount from summit and the tires from discounttiredirect.com and pepboys(yep they ship for free also) its going to cost me ~$850. Will look a lot better than the stock wheels and weigh less also. Also, will hook so much better. Just a thought. Ohh, and if you do go and get a stall, don't get a cheapo. Get a vig, yank, or midwest.

I asked LT1Dave ( www.lt1dave.com ) which stall he recommends and he told me not to get a Midwest. He recommended a Coan stall to me and said he could sell me one for $550. What do you guys think? I am going to get new wheels/tires soon. I've thought it out, and am probably going to get chrome ZR1s because they're pimp. I was gonna get drag wheels, but I want my car to handle good on the street and not have to worry about sliding around in the rain like its black ice.

what are the specs on the cam? this is another thing that I've been thinking about.....I don't want to get a 2400 stall and not be enough for a cam, because after these boltons are done and I get bored and my addiction for more mods gets worse, I'm gonna need a cam in there......most likely a comp cams XE 224/230 or something a little smaller.

I am running the Hotcam with the 1.6 rockers and LT4 heads ported and polished with race flow valves installed. LT4 Intake was also matched to the heads. I do have other mods as well and in process of dialing in the pcm with LT1 edit. I am hoping to touch the tens.
