KEEPING a 96 lt1 transam cool

Hey u guys i have a 96 transam with a lt1 and a six speed...... ive been having a problem with the car overheating after like 20 min on a hot summer california day.... also ive thrown both fans to come on with switch..

What the best combinations in waterpumps, and radiators that are keeping these lt1's cool?????

Iam looking for some feed back from people that live and drive there cars on very hot days that arent having any issues with over heating

Flush the cooling system out, install a 160 stat, have the fans programmed to come on sooner and/or install and manual fan switch. That might help.

If you're overheating after 20 minutes out here, then you have problems with your cooling system. I ran my car stock for months in 120 degree heat and it never overheated.

How old are the sensors? Are they giving you accurate readings?

I think the sensors are ok because a soon as its starts overheating it leaks a little fluid out from somewere.............

Something is wrong somewhere. The LT1 cooling system is a good one and easily capable of keeping things cool. The system must be tight and in good working order, no blockages in the radiator, air dam on and no debris blocking air flow. A bad head gasket can cause cooling problems, too.
