Keep blowing fuse, please help.
Keep blowing fuse, please help.
I just finished building my engine and dropped it in. It was running fine other than throwing a code for the crank position sensor. now it will barely start and keeps blowing the 20a fuse for eng sensor. i tried disconnecting the crank position sensor and used a new fuse...still blew. what else could be on this circuit that would blow the fuse. thanks for any help.
Re: Keep blowing fuse, please help.
All 4 O2's, MAF, if it's A4 the brake switch and if it's manual, the reverse lockout solenoid and the skip shift solenoid. The CKP crank position sensor is not on that circuit. It is fed from the 10A ignition fuse via the pink wire. You should try disconnecting all the items listed and the tranny and then see if it blows. If it does you have a pinched wire. If not connect one thing at a time until it blows and you found it. I think you have a pinched wire though. You can find it by placing an ohm meter in the fuse panel on the side opposite the 12V contacts at the fuse. That is, one side of the fuse has 12 volts and the other side goes to the devices in question. It this side you want to check. Set the meter for low ohms or buzzer. You will now check from the contact to ground. If a wire is pinched to ground, the meter will read low ohms or buzz if you set it there. Now wiggle the wires until you hear the meter stop buzzing or go to infinite reading.
