I had a 95 with the K&N CAI. There would be no difference for the 96. The hood doesn't matter as the CAI intake goes somewhat in the same general area as the factory plenum and filter box. The K&N filter will fit farther down in the nacelle in front of the driver side tire.

I just thought. Maybe you're looking to get the FIPK where the filter lies on top of the radiator shroud?

That's not an FIPK. Here's what bigm2102 is looking for:

That's the FIPK for an LS1 car. It will not fit under the hood of an LT1 car without modification.

Yeah FIPK means fuel injection performance kit....they make one for the LS1 and for the LT1 and for many other vehicles...if your talking about the LS1 FIPK on an LT1 car you should edit the original post cause that is not how it currently reads...if you want the LT1 FIPK the filter mounts in the lower driverside portion of the engine compartment and needs no hood modifications to use...not sure which one you were really asking about

he has a 1996 and I ALSO have a 1996, the FIPK intake he was wondering about that will perform well and fit underneath his stock hood, is the one i pictured, you cant see anything but the larger intake pipe because the filter is located further below for a pretty secure colder airflow. K&N advertises an "average powergain" of a little over 18HP, with tuning they advertise "HP gains up to 25+"
