K&N Air Filter
I serviced the air filter on my FIPK about one month ago and noticed the other day that my air filter had fallen off!Luckily it was only one day of driving w/o it.I then spent over a damn hr. trying to get it back on,but to no avail
I then had the mechanic @my workplace try install it and he couldn,t either(had no trouble b/f).He thought a adapter was missing but we then agreed that the filter had shrunk;is this possible&what opinions, options can you members suggest.I can,t drive car w/o an air filter so any solutions would be appreciated.

i would think it would go back on, i just hate how that setup is. pain to get to really. id try taking it all the way out of the car see if it fits that way, then go from there of just reinstalling it.
The weird thing is i,ve never had trouble b/f installing that filter.I will price a new one Sat,but what if problem not fixed:but yea that idea of taking the whole thing out&reinstalling might be a option. Thanks for that reply.
Before you buy a new filter why not try immersing the connection end in boling water for a few minutes and then putting it on the tube. Remove the clamp completely as all you're trying to do is stretch the opening. I'd take the tube off so you can move quickly. Once it's on let it cool completely before removing and reinstalling the whole thing.
Don't submerge the entire filter, just the 'rubber' end.
I've had K&N filters for years on my cycles and have never had one shrink so that it wouldn't go back on but they do change dimensions....
Good luck!

Open up the area where the tube fits down in the frame and you can put the filter in from the top once it is installed. This way you can tighten it down before you install it and that should solve the problem with it falling off.
I have the same problem with the filter falling off. Someone suggested an Amsoil replacement and I have never looked back.

I believe it is part number EeAu4047.
