The Jeep filter, which fits, has horizontal pleats which allow the filter to be accordianed (pushed in) whereas the Holley has vetical pleats which makes it more rigid and not subject to being pushed off the base.

Vertical= lllllll

Horizontal= -------

I wonder why K&N hasn't addressed this yet. I bought one for the Bu', and it came with a gasket and a sheet stating that it is a revision and if you didn't use the gasket the filter wouldn't seal correctly.
Interesting.

Yep! Apparently the K&N Filter #33-2084 I had is not the Jeep filter that has the horizontal pleats. It has vertical pleats.

Regardless, I wouldn't recommend the 33-2084, because the Holley is much better (in terms fit and finish)

...and it has vertical pleats!

ZOSO: I'm not familiar with the TA setup. The straight in approach should be superior to the SS route.

If your filter is catching crap, it is doing its job. If it is REALLY catching crap, then maybe its because of its straight-in approach and location. Don't know.

Probably someone else with that setup will be able to help you out.

Back when my car was naturally aspirated (and still using the SS airbox), it made 452rwhp with a new fram filter, and 452rwhp with a new K&N filter.

This has been discussed on this, and other boards many times.

KN-33-2018 will fit perfectly. See here, http://www.lgmotorsports.com/OCLT1_Fbody_Induction.htm

Whether the pleats are vertical or horizontal they wont get "sucked in" unless you never clean it.

I have used this filter for over two years with NO problems.

Oh, and this is not an ad for K&N just info.

So whats the verdict? I have a k & N in mine with horizontal pleats. Do I really need to change it or will I be good? Ill have to dyno with and without and see if there is any difference. -Michael
