Wow, that is good. How much HP do you figure the stock crank will hold? I'm looking to get 800hp at the motor, 600-650hp at the wheels w/power adder someday. Should I get a forged crank? If so, I might as well get a stroker huh?

Well, if you looking into something like that your engine builder will steer you in the right direction.

either way, 700 or 800 fwhp will most likely have to be done with a forged crank

Going to a 383 would basically just give you more torque and less cam lope. The longer stroke would swallow some of the cam.

That's what I was planning but thanks for the info. With my extremely tight budget, I'm always looking to save some dough.

I'm looking for 9's so I'll need at least 600hp at the wheels.

Depending on your raceweight you are going to need more than 600 rwhp to get in the 9's . Going in the 9's is not cheap, so you better have a good size budget.

You got that right. Going 9's is big money not to mention money for when you break things..

He he. I have had a big emphasis on wieght reduction so that I don't need as much power and things are less likely to break. The 600hp figure is based on a 3000lb raceweight and a 9.94 run. But I'll prolly shoot for around 650hp just to be sure.

Well weight reduction is the best start and since you're only looking for 6-650 that should be easier to do. Good bottom end, heads, and n20.

Thanks, I'm real close to being there now but I have to add a cage and other heavier items like a 9" rear so the hard part will be trying to maintain the low weight.
