Just got Bilstein shocks have questions on install

I finally got some shocks for my car (bilstein hd's). I would like to do the install myself but i don't have jackstands or a lift plus im not to handy with cars. Would a regular tire shop be able to install them? Whats the going price for installation?

thanks

Cool

$200 to $450 depending on labor rate.

Have you already lowered the car? If you haven't and are even considering Eibachs or any other springs at some point in the future, it's wise to do them at the same time since the amount of labor is the same. I see you're in LA, but if you want to come down to San Diego/North County (about 45 minutes south of Irvine) a buddy and I install them (and just about any other mods) all the time on weekends. PM me for more info if interested.

jim88- Damme thats alot for install.

BlownF1- I don't plan on lowering my car now. I was thinking about the 1le springs (1" drop or less) but didn't have them planned for right now. I sent you a pm thank you for the offer.

Do you work on cars every weekend?

Are they front or back shocks? If they are back ones then that would be really easy like a 1/2 hour job. No matter how mechanicly uninclined you are you can do it 4 bolts total. As for the front that is not for someone who is a novice at this sort of work. It does require some specialty tools and a hammer. Goodluck see if BlownF1 will do it that way you know its a car guy who cars about cars.

I paid$150 for my front coils and new shocks installed WITH alighment. $200 seems high. Instal the back ones yourself and save some$

You should do the rears yourself. Get a friend to lend a hand.

The fronts you can take to a shop and it will probably run $100-150 for labor. It's a lot of work to do yourself, just time consuming really.

I just got mine done at the NTB I work at. Since you have to take off the springs and struts for the front, you should just buy some lowering springs and the shop you choose should be able to put the springs in with the struts, saving you $. I got charged $13.99 for each rear shock and $17.99 for each front strut that was before my discount . I just put the springs in myself while they had the shocks/struts out. -----------------> Brad
