and here is the quote from mind game.

"There is a graph showing 3 different cams, one is 'optimal' at 108º another is at 106º and the last is at 110º. The torque peak is about 380 with both the 106 and 108 LCA cams and about 360 ft.lbs with the 110 LCA. The hp peak for 106 and 108 are also almost identical at a 6k peak just shy of 360 hp with the 110 cam just shy of 340.

Just some stuff to ponder.

-Mindgame"
ok i understand what is said in that thread, and i guess i was a little off with the 6 to 7 hp, but we are still talking about 50 hp difference. and i think 70 to 80% of it is in the heads.

So what effect does this have on our cams?? Aren't most of ours ground in @ 4* advanced? So effectively, those w/ a 110lsa and 112lsa are essentially @ a 106 +4 and 108 +4... Respectively....

Patrick - glad your car is still running ! I sure hope that valve train quiets down some. Dayumn!! your car is loud! I'm about to pull my covers off and install some valve lash caps. Looked all over today for a set of 7.150 pushrods... Couldn't find any, only choice left was to run valve caps.. They'll give me the .050 I'm looking for. I was getting major valve float @ 6k - never did get a chance to dyno it. Guess I'll play w/ shift points on the track tomorrow .

See y'all there!

PS - thanks Seth @ cmotosports.com for all the help once again!!

The valvetrain has quited down now. But the car is louder! You get those caps in yet? I beat a Geo Metro today. It was the LSi model. I am going to take my car out to the dyno in two weeks.

I bought them originally from a board member and he had them gasket matched. They flowed 220/185 before I homeported them more. I also polished the exhaust. I would think 230/195 is a good guess, but hard to tell. I think I hurt the bottom end of my power band by opening the runners too much. My torue actually dropped from 2200-2600rpm and then rose again when I was on the dyno. So I actually made more torque at 2000rpm than at 2400rpm! It then picks up and pulls good on the top end.
