What do your heads flow at?

What size valves?

Are you on a stock tune or pcmforless? You said you didn't trust these guys? Is there another dyno anywhere around near you where you can dyno again to see whats up?

Guys, look all the 11s and even the 14.0:1, do you really think they are down that much? I think not, 12.2:1 is damn near 12.5:1 and alot of people go for that depending on weight of the vehicle, 13.0:1 is fine too and may well make more power on these cars without ping.

The heads flowed 258@600 on the intake & 197@600 on the exhaust.

Valves are 2.00 Intake & 1.56 exhaust.
I am on PCM Forless tuning for the cam only.
And yes there is...

My car with just the hot cam was running about 13.5. I know it is not far off but I just hope I can get it producing more HP that I think it can.

Because you have to set the gear ratio, or all your figures will be off.

However, on a machine that can measure instantaneous force, horsepower will not be affected by gears any way you measure it, since the amount of work being performed stays constant.

It is not uncommon to make less rwhp with gears.

I would take those #'s with a grain of salt. Obviously the dyno was having problems.

Go get some track times. I dynoed my car and it made a measely 359 rwhp and ran the times in the sig.

Because i had 3.73s in I asked the guy and you can do the pull in any gear or with any ratio because the Dynojet software measures your overall gear ratio in terms of RPM/MPH. That way they don't have to factor in transmission differences, rear end, and slight tire size variations. The ratio is displayed on your output and you should check that it's consistent between runs. Mine was 51.32 RPM/MPH.

Typically people pull in 4th because it's a nice time span that isn't keeping your motor operating too long and the rpms are rising steadily so they get good data points and a smooth curve.

When I my car dyno'd the guy was joking about some ricer that was buzzing ont here for 26 seconds or something while my car only took about 9 i think and pulled a larger rpm range.

Hey Smokn,
460 hits already on your post. I guess those GTP's caught everybodys attention. I'm thinking when the weather cools down and you get some new track times you'll know where you stand. I myself would be happy with your old times if I could swing it. By the way your old heads are in Texas with Lloyd as I type this, wish me luck. And maybe one of these days I'll give you a run for your money.

Eddie,

Try letting FLP or Speed Inc dyno/dyno tune your car for you. I'd bet the results will be better. Besides, didn't you get the #'s in your sig at FLP?

345rwhp is OK, but I agree you should see around 360ish or so with the rest of your mods through a Vig 3600 stall. BTW, a 12.2 AFR isn't terribly bad. I think you'll gain a little from bumping it up, but not a lot.

Good luck,

Mike

I think you may have 350rwhp, but that would be about it with those heads. Dont forget, you got an auto, so it would be like an M6 with your setup making 370rwhp with hotcam. Sounds about right TO ME.

hes exactly right most all the time a NA engine find it hp best at 12.8 to 13.1.

If there is no rpm signal a Dynojet will give hp reading but not torque. Runs with an manual are usually done in 4th because it gives the highest readings - less frictional loss in the tranny in a 1:1 gear. With auto it is usally done in third gear for the same reason. Anyway, the main point of a chassis dyno is not to compare car to car, it does not give very accurate absolute hp numbers. But the numbers are quite reproducible, so you can see the effect of changes.
