How long ago and how many miles were on it when you bought it. That is one nice looking car. I would have never thought that car had 124,000 miles on it. Nice CD player i have the same one.

I too am 18. I drive my car about 40-50 miles a day, I don't floor it alot or do burnouts but she is driven a bit hard and does see 4000 rpm about 5 or 6 times a day I run on the highway for about 15 miles and I have 3.73s so I'm pulling 2500-3000 rpm just cruising. Last week I drove it to class 3 days, then drove it 20 miles to the drags, went 10 runs, then drove it 20 miles back home and filled it the next day. end result was 16 mpg. I babied it for a week to see what kind of mileage I could get. end result was 17 mpg. that extra mpg isn't worth the lack of fun

good luck with your car though, and like one of the other guys said before, hold of on the modding. I was lucky to pay my car off all in one shot but once I started modding I couldn't stop. it's like a disease or an addiction. must... go... faster...

My parents get mad for dumping lots of money into the Z.

Hey, congrats on the new purchase! Since I think your only (pre-cat) O2 sensor is on the driver's side, it shouldn't be too hard to install. I just did mine recently, but since mine is a 96, I had to do both sides. The passengers side is a serious PITA! Also, if you buy the AC/Delco's, they already have anti-seize on the threads and the package says not to apply more.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong about the number of pre-cat O2's on a 93...

yeah, loudmouth + headers is truly something no camera or mic can capture. you have to experiance it to realize the sheer volume.
I let my buddy drive my car while I drove behind him just to listen to it. I could hear it from when he was a 1/4 mile ahead of me.

your gonna see some hp gains no matter what exhuast you put on...all in all some might put out better dyno #'s than others but everyone is about the same. After that is said and done, preference is what everything comes down to...do you like to draw attention...i kno i do with my borla plate wide open

go ahead and find a used cold air intake on the boards here, and put your exhaust on. it will wake the car up quite a bit...

bow94z, The guy that built your sub box lives right down the road from me, kinda weird. BTW, your link to subthump just takes you back to your first page of cardomain, at least it did for me.

Anyway, Nick-LT1, have fun with your new toy, there is nothing wrong with giving her hell. As long as you don't dump the clutch at the rev limiter or over-rev you should be alright.

Just be carefull man, when I was 17 I had an 86 camaro and ramped it over a curb because I thought the car would handle like my dads Porsche (I was wrong) and rear wheel drive is a lot of fun but the exact oppisite ofr front wheel drive. Its tempting to go WOT and I did in the 97 SS that I drove today just remember that the faster you go the longer it takes to stop Enjoy it man

I think that everyone who ever plans on having a fast car should learn in a RWD automobile. I learned in my '94 Ranger Splash. It wasn't entirely gutless (4.0 V6) but it wasn't fast by any stretch of the word. It was slow enough to keep me out of trouble but quick enough to teach me how to do all of the RWD stuff (powerslides and the like). I gotta say, it survived me learning how to drive, and I still drive that damned truck every single day (yes the Z28 gets jealous from time to time).

Congrats on your first Z28. 50K miles is nothing...just breaking in the engine.

Also, it took me a lot of time, but I finally solved your "low gas mileage" problem....

I'll quote you:

I try and have fun with it and run it hard once and a while but it seems like i cant drive it with out putting my foot into it.
Thank you, thank you. No rewards necessary.

14 mpg is not bad, especially for how we all "think" you drive. I get 16 mpg, and I'm not redlining stoplight to stoplight.

FACT: 17 years of age + RWD V8 = low gas mileage

Not to sound like an old fart, but be careful with that V8 beast. I first bought mine used and it had the stock Eagle TAs on them, and I was spinning all over the place in the rain, and my U-turns often because O-turns. Try getting some wider tires or stickier ones...Eagle GS-D3s or Nitto 555s. That way you can keep the torque on the pavement.

Again, welcome to the FBody world!

BTW, my 96 just turned 80,000 miles, and I swear it hasn't lost a step...
