Just bought my First Camaro!!!!

I sold my 92 z24 to my brother and bought a 93 z28 camaro. It has 50,000 miles, alpine cd player, and a code alarm and i got it for 5k which i think is a good deal. I cant believe the power. I am tring to pay it off since i am only 17 years old but i think i am going to buy the SLP loudmouth cat- back system. I love the car in every way except the gas milage. Shouldnt it get around 17-18 miles to the gallon but it only get 13-14 miles to the gallon. This weekend i am changing the tranny oil, rear dif oil, fuel filter, pvc valve. I have already cleaned the kand n filter and changed the motor oil. Do i need to change plugs and wires or does it have the 100,000 mile plugs in it?? What could be causing the poor fuel milage? Thanks for all the help! I LOVE THIS SITE!!!!

Definatley do plugs and wires, replace everything as far as a tune up. Bad gas milage can be the plugs and wires, also the Oxygen sensors. If you replace the Oxygen sensors make sure you buy AC delcos.

Yeah, going from a cavalier to a camaro will result in low gas mileage the first few weeks

you know i was have the same thing, all of my friends with lt1s were getting 16-17 mpg and i was getting low 14's, finally one day (i dont know why) i started driving different, and sense then i get 16's and i accelerate just as fast, i just shift a little earlier. the point of my ramble is its all in the driving style, if you were getting 11 then i would be concerned something is wrong, but 14 can just be your driving style

Congratulations! Good luck w/ it. It sounds like you have a nice low-mileage car. I just got my 93 Z a couple weeks ago. I havent really had time to work on her yet since I'm in school but this week is finals so I cant wait to get my hands dirty.

Congrats on the new car!!! You'll love it. O2's are 37 a piece i think from jason cromer and they are very easy to replace... All you need is a wrench and either a jack or ramps. I think its a 1 inch wrench that you need. Unscrew the old ones, unhook the plug and replace. very easy. Dont forget the anti-sieze Congrats again!

You got the car for a good price. I paid a bit more for my 50k mile '94 6spd.

My advice on the exhaust system is WAIT. Pay the car off first. I saved up and paid cash for mine. I'm not big on spending money that I don't have though. The other reason is that you are going to be having a lot of fun with the car for the first month or two, and all that the exhaust is going to do is get you noticed by Missouri's finest.

Congrats on your new car. These things will make you broke if you let it. I bought My 94 Z28 last May and last Sunday just picked up a 95 Firebird with T-Tops ahhh the joy. Now I have the best of both cars. Have fun modding.
