Exclamation Jiffy lube put in too much trany fluid what to do!?

about a week ago i got my tranny fluid exchanged and a day later i noticed a nocking and it having trouble... didnt think they would have done a bad job, but anyhow i checked the trans dipstick today and it went all the way to the first coil almost double where it is supposed to go...

how might i get this fixed? think i should just go down to them and bitch until they do a better job?

uh oh...you better trade your car in b/c that cannot be repaired.

Just joking. You can either drop the pan and let some of the fluid out or take it back to jiffy lube and get them to do it. In all honesty i dont think it should be a problem unless it is coming out of the fill tube.

I would do more than go there and ask them politely to drain some. You paid to have a service done right and they screwed up. Let them know the tranny is now slipping and they are responsible for repairs. Make them give you a full refund and get the extra fluid out of there ASAP! Just make sure you checked the trans fluid with the car running in park.

I used to manage a Qwik Lube.....had to replace an engine for some kid forgetting to add oil to some Lincoln one time.

you could just go underneath the car and unscrew a couple bolts and let some leak out then tighten them back up. From now on just do the work yourself, its cheaper, and you know its done RIGHT. i would never take my car to jiffy lube

Make sure you check the tranny fluid with the car warmed up and running.

Well you could take the car back to jiffy lube and have them do it right.. ask politely and then b!tch them out if that fails...

OR

The better option would be to never take your car back there again and, at a minimum, learn how to perform routine maintenence tasks such as this on your own. I don't own any autos at the moment and it's been a while since I've changed the fluid in one but if memory serves you only have to drop the pan and let oil run out (it should be messy) then bolt it back up and fill with a quality lube. You'll save money and have the satisfaction of having done it yourself AND you'll know it's done right this time.

NEVER trust the monkeys at jiffy lube or anywhere else unless you absolutely have to (last resort).

Just take it back to JL and have them fix the problem. Meanwhile they get another look at your
bottom, checking for leaks, etc.

Before you take it in, take a look at their work sheet to ensure that all the things have been checked off including, wiper fluid, tire pressure, all that little crap. This will keep'em honest (maybe).

For my money, places like JL are worth it just to have someone crawl under there and look around once in awhile.JMHO

Cool

Last year my neighbor took his 92 Explorer for a rear end fluid change.Got 3 miles down the the road and guess what, they forgot to replace the oil in the rear.Had to sue them, but got a new rear.Jiffy lube has to be watched when they work on your car.My02

Another possiblity is go to your local parts store and pick up a little hand pump. Stick the line down the dipstick tube and pump out the extra fluid. Much easier than dropping the pan.
The pump may be in the marine section.

That won't help if any damage was done to the trans though.

Did you check it with the car running on level ground? If they did it with a flush machine it puts no extra fluid in the transmission.

just take it back to jiffy lube and they'll hook this little sucker thing onto the dipstick and it will suck some fluid out. I work at a oil change place like jiffy lube, **** happens.

I used to go to one of those quick oil change places when I lived in an apartment and it was snowing outside.
The guys I went to were cool, they understood when I went over every little thing they did to make sure it was done right.
They can be a time saver but you have to watch them like a hawk.

Awe yes Good ole Jiffy Lube.

I took my car for an oil change one time. I was in a hurry and going on a trip and didn't have time to do the oil change. They put to much oil in. Got grease all over the front bumper cover. I was so furious.

The only things I take my car to a shop for regular maintenance is, Front end alignment and smog checks.

Z~

Edit- You can either take it back and have them fix it and give you your money back or doit yourself but after your get your money back first The key here is to getting your money back
