i need to replace my header gaskets again, i think the header bolts from jet hot are too short for me, i'm gonna get 12 point arp bolts, do i need to get 1" or what? also do i need a 7/16 or 5/16 or 3/8?
i've been reading and saw all 3 sizes mentioned.

also fel-pro gaskets best ones to use? or can i use the factory metal exhaust manifold gaskets? i've tried to use the fel pro's but drilling the outer 2 holes to match the headers seems to hurt the gasket more than anything..anyone else have that problem?
anyway, what size bolts, and how long? and fel-pro's or factory exhaust manifold gaskets?

I used ARP 5/16, stainless, 1 inch, 12 point heads and they worked great. At first i thought they were gonna suck because you can't get a open wrench on a 12point head. But then I ended up using a deep socket on em and they were wonderful.
As far as gaskets, I used the SCE solid copper. They've sealed great. I don't wanna use anything but copper or aluminum gaskets anymore. They seal so much better. I even used the Percy's aluminum collector gaskets, they're so much thicker and tougher than the paper ones. But some people still like the fel-pro 1406.

nope mine were 5/16, I wouldn't want anything larger.
The head size, the size of the socket you use on em.

 

so i could get the same size bolt w/ just a smaller head? that would be nice.
