jethot primary leak is too irritating

i have the common leak on the slip-fit primary.

i tried insterting the tube with a healthy coating of RTV red to seal it up, but that didnt do squat.
i only had about 7 hours to let it cure (its my daily driver and that was the most time i had)

do you think if i let it cure overnight (12+ hours) it might work?

what other options are there?

i cant find a band clamp small enough for it.

im not going to do anything permanent like weld them up, or use that furnace cement stuff that someone else used.........i want to still be able to remove the headers if necessary.

I thought the pressure from the exhaust is supposed to keep that slip fit primary on there. Are you sure one of your header bolts didn't back out?

the header bolts are all tight Stage8 locking bolts..............the design is that the primary is supposed to be a tight enough fit that under heat/pressure it wont leak..............but for a lot of people it still does, which causes the O2 on the driver side to read lean, therefore making that side of cylinders richen up, losing performance.

not to mention, that damn ticking exhaust leak sound pisses me off!

Someone may be able to chime in but if I remember right, somebody was able to cure it with the cement sealer stuff that you use on fire places. Turns very hard and resists heat well..

I belive with the high temp copper RTV you should let it sit for about 24 hours according to the package. I dont know if mine is leaking yet, I will check it out.

if its leaking, you can usually hear it..........its a loud ticking sound at idle, and increases with rpm.

on mine, if you look at the header, there are dark stains around the slip-fit area, showing where the leak is.
