JEGS brand opti-spark warning
JEGS brand opti-spark warning
I recently changed my opti with the jegs brand about a month ago. Car was misfiring running like crap etc. So i decided to change the plugs wires and the whole distributer. I ordered the jegs brand one. I went to put it in and the car wouldn't even turn over just popped and backfired out of the intake. As soon as i put the old one back in it started up again. I did this with 3 different Jegs opti's. Finally on the third one i brought it to a mechanic and he took it apart and the timing is totally different then the GM opti. I called Jegs and told them but they couldn't do anything but take the old one back.. i dont know what they are doing with their opti's but supposedly thats the only one they make for my car. I've noticed a lot of other guys are having this problem and are trying to fix other things besides the opti, so if you ordered a JEGS opti and are having this problem.. check the opti
I have one on my car from about 6 months ago . works fine . Had it apart saw nothing diffrent from to oem one . I had a 20 yaer gm master tech look at it and he couldnt see the diffrence either . You sure you didnt just clock it wrong on the camshaft ?
positive.. like i said after i couldn't get the first few to work i brought it to my mechanic and he took it totally apart and showed me that the timing is totally different. Maybe it was a coincidence that they sent me 3 opti's with the wrong timing but i've called them numerous times and they said that they were sending me the right one for my model car. I have the msd cap and rotor on my old distributer and everything is fine now.
