Jack Stands - Where is Safe????

Stupid question but when ever I use stands, or even a jack, I really don't trust myself or the damn car. Anyone know where to properly jack and place stands on the 4 gens? Pics would be awsome if anyone has any.

I don't have any pictures out there, but here's a write-up: http://www.go-fast.org/z28/maintenance.html#Jack

I don't have a writeup or pics... but I put mine on the back part of the front sub-frames... and for the rears, just infront of the LCA mtg points on one of the sub-frames there.

Is this a good thing to do? I read in a VW Volkswagen manual not to do this. Are our cases just stronger?
You're talking a VW there..... aluminum bellhousing... Vs our Steel rearends..... that's the only place I jack the rear of my car up from... it's the easiest... one jack lifts the entire rear.... whereas the fron I have to do with 2 jacks at the same time... one on each side...

I could be wrong, but it doesn't seem good to jack from the differential housing on an f-body since it has a sway bar, you're really jacking on the sway bar..... seems like that might snap like a twig or bend.

I like jacking from the crossmember in the front, but then I puta jackstand on both sides at the front subframe, on or near the spot where the BMR subframe connectors weld onto the frame....

I personally wouldn't spend hours under a car except under ramps or multiple jack stands though.... Also be careful of BENDING the floor pan/subframe sections with jackstands. I suggest using some small scraps of wood as buffers. I've bent up my underside a little with cheap floor jacks and the pointy edges of jackstands.... they really aren't designed for soft unibody cars Wood scraps are your friend.

I jack under the pumpkin as well. It doesn't jack on the sway bar.

Front I jack on teh K-member.

I put jackstands under the sides in the provided notches.
