I've been reading Trans-Go kits are bad???
I've had a Transgo in my 4L60E (94 Z with 79,000 miles) for over 4 years now and I haven't had any problems. I'm not saying they are the greatest and wouldn't doubt if they cause some problems but I've been very pleased with mine. I change my tranny fluid and filter every 15,000 miles so maybe that helps also. The fluid I'm changing looks good, not burnt. I just do it to keep fresh fluid in it.
Frank,
My truck may not run 11s, but your Z can't pull a 8,000 pound enclosed trailer.
Oh, yeah, a 12.82 is not exactly an 11 second ride. What's your point?

I put in a B&M shiftkit the other day. It seems to do really well. The shifts aren't much harder(probably because of the torque converter) but it shifts a lot quicker. The 2-3 shift used to be real lazy, but now it's just as quick and solid as the 1-2 shift.

I've probably asked you this Frank, but what do you think of Level 10 trans'? I got one and love it, they did every possible upgrade, new everything, high performance recalibrated valve body etc. Basically from what the guy was telling me they replaced every possible bushing and everything, I also got there 9in. billet convertor. It's been great, firm quick shifts without breaking your neck on everyday driving. Besides the fact that I got raped on the price, what do you think of them and how do they hold up? Are they comparable to your built units?
I've had it on for about a year and a half now and put prolly 100 passes on it and it's seems good as new, of course they were [b]only[b] low 13 sec passes with low 1.8 60's.

I have been using Trans-Go Shift kits "successfully" in everything I have built since 1977. I use Trans-Go Performance Shift kits in all my 700R4's & 4L60E's that run anywhere from the mid 14's to mid 10's. I do not install them "as is", I modify them for each particular application. I work with the accumulation (not against it, by blocking it) on 2nd & 3rd gears. You don't need harsh/bang part throttle 1-2 or 2-3 shifts. You can have a very nice 1-2 & 2-3 part throttle shifts by modifying the accumulators. As for 4th gear, I will block the accumulator in most performance applications in the 700R4, but not always on the 4L60E. The Corvette servo works very well, the billet servo is "overkill". The Borg Warner Hi-Energy 2-4 band, and 3-4 clutches will hold up better than any aftermarket band or clutches I have seen so far, and have no problem with breakage. These are just a couple of things that I do to my Performance transmissions. The factory has things pretty close, but there is always room for improvement. I hope this helps some?

My point was I've built quite a few transmissions for 11 second cars.
