Interresting Finding - IAT Sensor
A few people have replaced the IAT to fix their car's stumble and such. I just noticed something quite interresting the other day about the sensors location and a possible reason as to why the sensor in some cases may be reading a bit too high. There's a coolant hose that runs from the top of the radiotor right past the IAT sensor, on my car it was touching it! When warm the hose got pretty darn hot and if the coolant hose was actually against the intake elbow or the sensor it could warm the area around the sensor and possibly the sensor too, a bit too much causing off readings. I just ziptied the coolant hose to a nearby coolant hose in order to keep it from touching the IAT sensor on my car
I thought that you was stating about the iat module....... The one that the shops sell..........That fools your cars computer into thinking that the incoming air is cooler than what it really is........ The one you plug it between the sensor and the connection in the elbow......
IAT Sensor
Nah just the sensor itself. I did some scanning yesterday to see if it made a difference and YES it did! Biggest difference came from throttle response while sitting in traffic. With the hose not tied down, the IAT sensor's temp shot up very quickly when idling in traffic. It would heat up to 50degrees C very very quickly. When the hose was tied down the temperature got to maybe 35 degrees but took a very long time to get there compared to before.
When sitting around on a hot day in traffic the car would run like crap for a bit until it got onto the highway... and now because of this hose thing being fixed it runs like a champ right away!
