Angry Intermittent Starting Problem..

As the title suggests I have an intermittent starting problem. Sometimes the car won't turn over at all, nothing just completely dead. Other times it will fire up like normal. I had the car taken in to be diagnosed but the mechanic was unable to find anything wrong with the battery, starter, or alternator. Im not sure what else it could possibly be, maybe ignition?, but as of right now the car won't start at all so any help would be greatly appreciated!

BTW the starter was replaced about 5 months ago, so im doubting that is the problem, also I made sure and cleaned the battery terminals so I don't think that is it either.

Help, Im stranded!

Re: Intermittent Starting Problem..

The clutch switch. They are a constant problem. You can test it by jumping it but be carefull!!!!! If you do jump it, the car will be able to start if it's in gear BE CAREFULL. If I understand you, occasionally the starter won't even engage and you hear nothing at all. Well that has nothing to do with fuel. Like I mentioned, the clutch start switch is notorious for going bad but hey it's getting depressed every time you mash on the clutch. It's bound to go bad. Also the theft deterrent relay could be bad and it's easy to jump around also but I'de bet on the clutch switch.

PS: I take it you're from Oklahoma?

I had a problem like this on my thirdgen. The problem was that I had headers on it and when the car was hot the starter would get heat soak. once it cooled down or if i would go to boost it it would start right up.

I had the ignition switch go bad, causing an intermittent problem. She would start just fine sometimes and sometimes, I would have no electrical anywhere. I have also had the clutch switch go bad and do the same thing. Good luck.
