Interesting issues with Starting/running

Well I posted something well over a week ago of my 96 z28 having problems starting well here is my dilemma as of now. It would not start at all, had no spark nothing, I had replaced the coil, nothing happend then I put on a new ICM, it started right up ran for probably 3 minutes and then quite. When I would try to start it again it would run for maybe 10 seconds and then die.

Well I noticed that the comp. was spitting out a code so I got a code reader and it is the dreaded P1371 which says Distributer ignition low resolution circuit. From what I've been reading it sounds like it is the opti spark but I replaced the opti and put on an MSD cap and rotor around a year ago (less than 1500 miles or so) so I have a hard time beleiving that. Is there anything else it could possibly be?

It could be the wireing harness goin got the opti, check and make sure it isnt corroded.

I have read about several MSD opti's going out after about 1000 miles

Yes, the code if for the optical sensor in the Opti (and any wiring problems between the sensor and the PCM). PCM shuts down the fuel when it can't find the low resolution pulse pattern. Clear the code (pull "PCM BAT" fuse for 30 seconds) and try again. That will tell you if it is a stored code from a previous incident, or an active one that comes back as soon as you try and start the engine.
