What are you future plans? Emissions laws? Look intoa set of LT headers if you have more future mods in plan, they will support alot more than the mid-lenghts will. Shoot us a pm if you haven' any questions or anything.

Re: Interested in Mac Midlengths

I love my MACs and they have been known to support about 400 rwhp. Most people that have LT's don't push near that so I don't know why every header thread turns into a "GET LT's" Thread, but oh well. When I installed my MACS I bought the headers (used off this board), Felpro Header gaskets (No leaks at all so far), Header bolts (from Autozone) and I also bought New wires and plugs to do while the headers were off. Thats all you should need besides the tools to do the job. Ceramic coating is a good idea also if you don't buy them that way. good luck.

...Stock 96,000 mile bottom end/CC305/ported heads/full weight. 12.05 @ 112 MPH with MAC mid lengths. I've got quite a few LT guys chasing me...LOL Seriously, I really like the MAC headers. Great plug access, they work well, and my car passed MD emissions "treadmill" test with them.

What are the for real "NO " gains you can expect on an engine like mine, see sig, what in HP as well as 1/4 mile.

If one did get LT's what additional gains of the MACs can one expect.

Re: Interested in Mac Midlengths

well I will say I added mac's and full exhaust, and went to track for a gain from 14.1@99 to 13.7@102... this was a while ago though. I only had full exhaust, headers, and tb bypass when I dynoed 296rwhp/327rwtq. before headers and y-pipe it was 280/309 or so.

the Mac mid lengths are better then a lot op people give them credit. I've had them sin 1996 or 1997 and have beaten numerous cars with similar mods as me, but they had LT's.

I love my Mac's, too. With Mac's, !Cat, cutout, ProMag 1.6 rollers and new Comp valve springs I went from a 14.01/98.28 to a 13.31/104.37. The motor laid down at 5100rpm with the old springs so I'm sure that's at least half of the .7 improvement in ET. The Macs and !Cat made the Flowmaster about 4x louder and it sounds sweet as hell. I've had a little trouble with the connection on #1 primary leaking a bit but the copper gaskets that came with the headers have not leaked at all. I can't run LT's if I want to get in and out of my driveway Very noticable improvement in seat of the pants grunt throughout rpm range, where the springs are just helping the top end.

Re: Interested in Mac Midlengths

I went from a 13.7 @ 102 before my Mac's, to a 13.30 @ 105 afterwards. Not too shabby of an improvement in my book. Not nearly as hard to install as long tubes either, hardest part about the whole swap was ripping out the manifolds and emissions junk.

As mentioned above, I also have had some probs with the slip-fit primary leaking, but it's barely noticeable and probably easily fixed if I wasn't so lazy...

Thanks to all, thats the stuff I have been loking for.
There has to be ways of sealing off that 1st primary tube, does it not have a clamp or anything, leaks are not normal.

There is a clamp on the #1 primary. You just need some long extensions on your wrench to get down to it. Mine hasn't leaked at all. I did smear it pretty good on the inside contact point with ultra copper RTV.

In my opinion, the best place to get the MAC mids is through Jet-Hot. They sell them coated, and they look and perform great. YOu can see pics in my sig.

As for performance gains, I went from 14.4@98 with CAI only, to 13.8@102 with MAC mids and Hooker catback. I gained 32 rwhp and 30 rwtq from the MAC's and the catback. It was a huge difference. Then I added 1.6 RR's and got the time in my sig.

Make sure you get the Midlengths, and not the shorties.

I used the header bolts that came with the kit, and they work great. I used a Mr. Gasket Ultraseal header gasket instead of the copper one. You will probably want to buy new O2 sensors about a month after you have the new coated headers, because the O2's seem to like to go bad after the header install, maybe from some of the inside coating fumes burning off, or the RTV.
