This intake a waste?

So my stock intake is fairly screwed up where the (elbow?) piece connects to the intake manifold/TB. Before I owned it somebody had once modified it and I basically have hi-temp tape keeping air from going in at the moment. I looked for stock replacements and they are insanely priced. Saw this 2 piece on Ebay pretty cheap.

I know you get what you pay for but.. would it be a total waste? Should I just save for a better brand? I am on a budget at the moment, so I am looking for a decent quick fix.

one thing i know is your gonna get some heat soak with the metal piping

on another note i just bought the 3 piece kit from them, i ran out of money on my motor build so i had to go cheap on the intake, when i get the car on the dyno i will do a run without it to see if its really eating alot of power, and i will buy a better kit eventually

I have a bunch of heat wrap from my old car that I could wrap around it. Think that would make it a viable intake for cheap?

Are you looking for just the rubber elbow that goes b/w the MAF and the TB or an entire new CAI system?

If just the elbow, you should be able to get that used easily on this board on on EBay. Many people that went forced induction or changed to 1LE elbow should have the stock elbow around somewhere they could sell you.

If you want an entire new CAI system...yeah, that will cost you around $200 for a name brand one.

Which part(s) are you trying to replace?

yes wraping it would help the heatsoak, you can just get the elbow on these boards for pretty cheap i assume though

yeah luckily one of the members here has a stock elbow he is willing to sell me for a great price. Which makes me happier.. I rather save for a nice CAI or 2pc intake down the road. Once again, i appreciate all the advice and input.

I would just upgrade the elbow to an 1LE piece. Depending where you shop, you shouldn't have any problems getting one for under 50 bucks.
