Intake question

What kind of aftermarket is there for an LT1 intake? Ive seen the LT4 but have been told they dont match up due to LT4 intakes having a taller port then a LT1 intake. So other than a sheetmetal intake what do you do???

Re: Intake question

Basically you can have the stock LT-1 intake port matched to your aftermarket ported heads and port matched to a larger bore throttle body. Nothing special.

Re: Intake question

Well Edelbrock and Lingenfelter both tried to improve on the LT1 intake and dodn't come up with anything really worth producing. Lingenfelter does sell a twist on the aftermarket TPI intakes made to fit the LT1 but by the time it is installed you are looking at a grand easily and it is not that much of an upgrade. Others make single plane carbed intakes work bet they have $700 minimum into those projects too and they do work well on some BUILT cars but are not really right for the average modded car. You want a handme down LT1 intake just look for a used one.

Re: Intake question

By the time you've payed to modify the LT1 intake for a distributor and to fit the L98 heads, not to mention bought a remote thermostat housing, you could easily afford a Stealth Ram or have a good chunk of a miniram paid for.

Modifying things is no big deal, i have free access to a machine shop and one of the workers at the shop has already done this for guys where he use to live (Georgia i think) everything i need to do he can make. And yes I could go with a stealth ram, but getting the LT1 from my friend it would be free, then I would have less than $150 in it. And a miniram is WAY too much for my bone stock motor, and my 18 year old kid budget. Plus I dont plan on doing much after the intake anyway.
