Intake Manifold
Intake Manifold
I am going to be replacing my intake manifold gasket this week and i just need to know what tools i am going to need to get my intake on and off. I already have my gaskets and ultra copper rtv. I am going to go to a parts store whenever i get a response. So if anyone could please give me a list of tools i will need to do so, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Is this the right disconnect tool you are referring to? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Perfo...motiveQ5fTools

Get something to insert in two of the manifold bolt holes, like a stud or a metal rod. That helps you slide the manifold down on the heads, without it moving off-center and ruining the RTV bead.
Ditto on not unhooking the fuel lines - just flipp them back, out of the way. You will have to release the clamp that holds the hard fuel lines to the manifold.
Don't forget a torque wrench.

do you have to / how do you remove the plastic piece in front of the windshield so you can get at everything more easily? the plastic piece between the hood and the windshield, with the slots for water to drain or whatever.
Not to mention the soft aluminum threads do not like being overtightened!
.....and why don't ya clean the crap out of it and paint it while its off.
Going through the trouble of taking it off and that's the least I would do...
..if not bust out a little homemade port job.
