Intake Hiss on project car

Intake Hiss on project car
All,
I now have my project car running and driveable! (1985 Volvo 745 wagon w/ '96 LT1/4L60E)
During Idle I've noticed a distinct "hiss" coming from the intake. Sounding like a leak I started moving hoses. I've traced it to what looks like the PVC hose. It is located on the drivers side of the intake ~halfway back. There is a PVC valve, a 2" 90 degree hose, a bent hardline running to the front of the intake, then another 90 degree hose entering the front of the intake, just below the TB. When I move this hose, the hissing can be eliminated, but the idle drops by 150 rpm.
Can anybody tell me if this hissing is normal or if I have a leak in one of my connections?
Any insight into the function of this hose would be appreciated too!
thanks!

G22Lvr,
Thanks for the confirmation! I'll replace the rubber sections of the hoses to see if that helps.
I've already done the TB bypass.
take care,
simon
