I'm seeing lately with my car that my intake gasket is not sealing right. I have vapors comming from my throttle body, and out lifter valley through my heads. I have noticed that oil has made it's way into the intake, and the vapors I smell are fuel and oil. Does anyone else think this is intake related? Are there thicker intake gaskets available for the LT1 other than the LT4? If not can I make my own?

 

This could be blowby, check your PCV valve. Most intakes will have a FILM of oil.

Fel Pro does make many gaskets in the standard .060 and the thicker .120.

I tossed on a new PCV, also have a breather on the Covers... but for some reason I remmebr my intake being damn hard to torque down. I don't know if the bolts were tightening against the intake of what, but time to pull it off and see what's going on.


I should note, that I did have smoke pouring out the dipstick tube, but after I changed the valve stem seals it quite happening. So somehow oil is getting into the valve chambers.
