Intake/Exhaust Install Questions

I've got an SLP CAI and Magnaflow catback sitting here at home that I hope to install this weekend or sometime next week. Does any one have any general tips to help out with the install, such as any tools I might need, the easiest place to jack/ramp the car for the exhaust, etc?

Also, I read in the Magnaflow install instructions that I need to cut the OEM over-the-axle pipe to remove it. Can I do this with a hacksaw? How hard would it be to do with the rear of the car on ramps in a driveway?

Thanks in advance for any advice, I appreciate it!

From: NY...what a bad place for a nice car
cutting it is the easy way out.....i used that method with my SLP 2OTL b/c the clamp indented it soo much that even heating it up with an Oxy/accetelene didnt help it out

the SLP instructions with my Loudmouth says u can drop the rear axle soo far to get the exhaust out in whole........if u dont wanna cut ur exhaust try that...it takes longer soo i didnt wanna do that

OK, I'll try to borrow/rent a sawzall to cut that pipe with. What about lifting the car? Is it easier to use jackstands, ramps, or does it not make a difference? If I need to use jackstands, where's the best place back there to put them?

Thanks for all the help so far!

jackstands work well cause if you place them right in front of the LCAs it will allow the raer axle to drop, making it easier to get pipes in there.

if you have to use a hacksaw, drop the hanger brackets (2 13mm bolts on each side) and allow the muffler to drop down...that way you will have more room to move the saw.

just as an FYI- I had to get new outlet arms made for my Magnaflow. After installing everything that came in the cat-back, the outlets both pointed to the left about 3-4" from where they should be even though the muffler sat square. After I installed it, I took it to a shop and they took it off and re-hung it w/ the same results. They ended up cutting the tips off, bending new outlets and welding the tips on the new ones.
