Intake elbow
Intake elbow
The other day while cleaning out my garage, I saw an old plastic floormat... I cut a piece off and took my intake elbow, cut the tube off and put that piece of plastic floormat over the hole... yes i know its kinda ghetto, but my question is...
Since i covered the hole, would it essentially be the same thing as the aftermarket intake elbows without that tube. Any opinions?

is it airtight? will it stay airtight? because if it were to come loose, i would hate to think that a piece of floor mat (or worse) might get sucked into my motor, that would suck.
and yes all the 1LE elbow is, is a stock elbow without the air silencer.
i wouldnt risk it if i were you, but thats my opinion and thats what you asked for

well let me tell you a story, before i bought an aftermarket elbow. i did what you did, i removed the silencer and took a peice of rubber to cover the hole and "blue glued" it on and screwed it one too. about a week later i noticed a real bad hesitation. i looked at the elbow and the rubber was gone and 1 of the screws was missing
needless to say the screw did not go in the motor because it still runs today, but it was a close call. i finally broke down and bought the real thing. so yes it will come lose.
