if you have a 383 stroker it is ext, if its stock its int. it means external balance internal balance all 350's are internal balance--strokers use a 400 crank which is external balance

gry, thats not always the case. I have a 350 crank and it is externaly balanced. The flywheel has a counter weight on it...

I would also want to internally balance my 383 if i was building it...

If you're building a motor, I would go int. It is better but more expensive. You would have to make sure that the weight is removed from you're flywheel or flexplate. Stock lt1's are external balance. The difference is an internal balance motor has holes or weights put on the crank to balance the rotating assembly. On an ext. the weights are put on the flywheel or balancer. Int balance is what most built motors are and most stock motors are ext just because it's cheaper to manufacture.
