Question instructions for ls1 air box conversion, will i need a ls1 rad support

before anybody flames me, i've searched and havent found an answer. i'm getting a 4 inch glasstek cowl hood and i want to switch to the ls1 setup because i think it looks bad ***.

here are my questions:

what parts will i need?

i was in a front end collision and i'm going to need a new rad support. do i get the ls1 rad support in place of the lt1 rad support? will the ls1 rad support bolt up to the lt1 front end pieces, such as fenders, nose piece, hood, impact bars etc.?

do i move anything or do i cut the lt1 rad support for the box to fit?

also i have a electric water pump made by miezre, will this interfere with anything?

i have a week to figure this out before i order the rad support

thank you

If you're using an LS1 lid setup and the radiator support is gone, then yes use a 98-02 radiator support. But you will have to keep that setup on the car forever because it won't clear a stock LT1 hood. Or you'd have to fab a new radiator support bracket.

the Ls1 core support is a little different than the Lt1 but they will interchange without any crazy
modifacations.

The radiator support is a weld-in piece-part of the unibody.

Well, you said "bolt up", so I thought that was what you meant.

These are the parts I used to convert mine:

SLP lid and K&N
LS1 shroud
4in to 3in rubber adapter hose (for the TB to MAF, bought at Home Depot)
3in to 3in rubber hose (for the MAF to the Lid, also bought at Home Depot)
Fast Toys air induction
2.5in fiberglass hood

As you might notice...2.5in cowl doesnt clear and Im a good use case for that. I put it all together over the weekend...still doesnt shut right. I going to look into lowering that core support that the lid fastens too for extra room. I completely gutted the underside of the box for every mm of clearance.

Yes Id bet it it would fit under the 4in...I know it certainly doesnt fit the 2.5in hood.

The LS1 shroud has alot of material on the underside built around the LS1 core support and fitment on those cars...since I had a hard time fitting it under the 2.5in I ground off nearly all the bottom side plastic pedistools that comes on those shrouds.

With the 4in you might not have to do that. The big detail not to miss with this conversion is clearance...if I didnt have that issue the install would have been pretty painless.
