Yeah, don't install it wrong and blame it on the opti making people think they are a worse piece than they really are!

Doing the water pump before will have taken one of the big steps out of the picture. You have to remove the crank dampener. When you put the new opti on, make sure that it is indexed correctly. Only secure it once you know for sure its on right and flush. As for a tip, since everything is off, you might as well change your wires while you are at it. Good luck.

It helps to know what year you have.

If you look closely at the diagram posted, and look at the back of you new opti, you will see three round recessions that will go over your cam bolts and three thin recessions in between. One of the thin ones has a square shape on the end and is deeper than the other two. You must line that one up with the cam dowel pin. Ideally this is the only recession that the cam dowel pin can go into that will allow the opti to sit perfectly flush on the timing cover. If its not flush, don't force it, its probably not aligned properly. Good luck with the install.

it may take a good wack with the palm of your hand to seat the opti correctly. luckily you have the easier kind to line up

There are 3 holes on the back of the distributor 1 is not the same the cam pin drive goes there it only goes on one way. I read you did the water pump before after that remove the belt tent and balancer . But before all that I like to put the engine on TDC to help.To do that (GET HELP) remove #1 plug have them put there finger in the hole and you tap the key you'll hear it .(MY BALANCER has A arrow on it will be at 12-O clock) Some times getting it to align is A bitch you can remove the cap and turn the rotor to help. you need A #4 TORK socket to remove the cap hope I helped
