Installing HOT Cam, how much more trouble to pull heads??
I'll beginning my project of installing my hot cam and opti swap in the next week or two. Since i'll have the lifters, pushrods and rockers out, howe much more difficult would it be to pull the heads off so I can put a fresh set of gaskets on and clean the carbon off the valves?? I don't have a leak or anything, I figure just as a preventative measure I'll trow a nice fel-pro set on there.
It is not much trouble at all,the only thing that could pose a problem is the coolant line that connects to the back of each head,my advise to you is if you can't get the the banjo bolts out easily the first time then get a friend and after you get all the head bolts out of both heads lift them both off together, then go to the dealer and order a new set of banjo bolts because the new ones are redesigned and are alot easier to install,Your car may already have them but if they don't you will know when you get the wrench on them if they are going to come out or not.
Thanks for the adivice. I will have an extra set of hands while doing this, so we'll probably lift them out together. You wouldn't happen to know the part # for the banjo bolts wit the newer design?
No,sorry i don't but someone else on here might. If no one else answers then i would order a set for a 94 and a 97.If the ones for the 97 are the same part number as the 94 then they may no longer make the old design.
