Installing Headers - Checklist...

Alright I just won a set of MAC Headers on Ebay...I'm going to need:
  • Taylor OVC Wires
  • Stage 8 Locking Header Bolts
  • Headers (obviously)

Am I forgetting to order anything?

I too just won an ebay auction for mac headers...is there anything included with them? I figured they'd come with the bolts and gaskets.

I'm picking mine up used from someone else, so I don't know what comes in your package. I would contact the seller if I were you.

To install your headers, which I am assuming are shorties (possibly mids?), you will need
headers
header bolts
gaskets
RTV high temp gasket maker

And that should be it. Since they are not longtubes, you will NOT be able to do the over the valve cover set of wires. That is only possibly on the longtubes. The shorties you bought should have EGR and AIR hookups, therefore you will not need your computer flashed. And I believe your stock ypipe will bolt up to your shorties. You can change your plugs and wires if you want, that depends on mileage/need.

Good luck, and don't forget the case of ice cold ones and a HUGE box of bandaids

Not true, you can route wires OVC with shorty headers. You just can't do them with the stock manifolds. I'd also suggest not using any high temp RTV around the gaskets at the head/header, it shouldn't be necessary.

Agreed with the RTV, you should be fine with the Felpro gaskets dry.

Second, the separate cylinder 7 piece that goes into the other three collectors WILL need RTV around the clamp. Use O2 sensor safe RTV for this.

Well, you learn something new everyday. I was unaware that you could run OVC with shorties.
Also, I meant to use the RTV with the EGR plate that blocks off the back of the manifold.
