Installing 1.6 RR's w/ messed up crank pulley
Installing 1.6 RR's w/ messed up crank pulley
I got all springs installed, and I think my crank pulley has been taken off and put back on reversed. (i.e the arrow is at 6 not 12) Here is why I think this. We stuck some wire in the #1 cylinder and When I rotate the crank pulley w/ a ratchet and the arrow a approched 6 oclock it would start to smash the wire so I guess TDC for cylinder #1 is at 6 oclock not 12. Correct? Therfore
at 6 o clock cylinders # 1 and 6 are at TDC
at 9 clock 8 and 3 are at tdc
at 12 clock 4 and 7 are at tdc
at 3 clock 3 and 2 are at tdc
Did I do it right or is the wrong?
How should I install my RR's shoebox's guides only show you how to do it by looking at the Valves and wathcing for TDC but I cant watch the valves since no rockers are on.

Don't remove the rollers and pushrods until you HAVE them in positon, i.e. TDC (both valves closed). As shoe says, you can do 2 cyls at a time if you choose.

Why do two cycles? How do you know when the piston is at TDC since it could be at TDC on the intake/exhaust/compression stroke as well, correct? Im confused on TDC
Re: Installing 1.6 RR's w/ messed up crank pulley
There is are good install instructions on crane cams web site for roller rockers. What you do is watch the lifters when slowly turning over the crank and ajusting at the proper times. You can put a pushrod on the lifter and set a rocker loosly in its place.
I believe you ajust the intake valve when the exhaust valve just starts to open(lifter rises) and ajust the exhaust when the intake has fully opened and is 2/3 closed. Check the web site to make sure what I said is correct. I've used this method a few times and worked perfectly.

I can't find my comp destructions, they were slick as hell and the engine had to be rotated once to do all valves. Comps page doesn't seem to have the indtructions I got which had everything on them, from installing the cam, degreeing the cam, installing lifters, etc. They had everything and I can't find them
I'll dig around a bit more. Prolly in the garage somewhere in one of those "places" that you put stuff, so you won't "forget" but always seem to forget anyhow......
