Thumbs up installed fuel pump...

Ok, so a while ago I posted my fuel pressure problems...

Previous Pump Post

Well I changed my fuel pump today, and now am running the $150 Racetronix setup (this setup is awesome....comes with absolutely EVERYTHING!!!) Now, fuel pressure jumps to about 44 psi when i prime the system (before it wouldnt jump AT ALL) Start her up, holds around 40psi, rev it, 45 psi, (before the most i could get out of it was 28 psi). The thing is, i turn the car off and fuel presure drops to about 30 psi....it will hold 30 psi forever.....to get it to hold at 40 psi, i prime it, goes to 40 -- do NOT start engine, and it will remain at 40 psi...... starts instantly now every time, runs amazing....I was actually surprised at the power gain from poor fuel pressure to normal.....Im not sure if i should wory about the 30 psi.....as long as it runs above 40 i should be ok, right? IF not - whats wrong? Regulator doesnt leav thru vacuum if that means anything..... comapred to the previous pressure problem post, everything is 100% better..... thanks in advance for any input!!!!!

I would imagine that the drop from 40 to 30 is caused by your car actually using some fuel as you power the system down. It doesn't take much flow to drop the pressure of a liquid. Depressurizing my system with a relief valve on my fuel pressure meter takes about 1/2 second.

As you said, all that matters is that you have full pressure while the engine is running.

I would not worry about it dropping to 30psi after you shut the car off. I have an Autometer Electric FP guage and it does the same exact thing when I shut my car off. I also have the Racetronixs 255LPH (high pressure/high volume) pump with the Racetronixs wiring harness and have been running it for 9,000 Miles with no problems as of yet.

Thx,
Claude

I never checked the fuel pressure after I installed my Racetronix fuel system. I may need to check into that. Im useing the stock regulator with no problems.

I don't have any info on your subject but I do have the same system in my car

Racetronix setup...

Where did u get this Kit for 150dollars??? Whats so great about it and what does it include.
Visit www.racetronix.com. Send them an email, and they will give you a couple phone numbers of dealers carrying their kit. You can ask for it by "F-LT1 Walbro Pump".....if you are planning on changing your pump, contact racetronix. Why is the $150 worth it? Because they include EVERYTHING for the hi-performance Walbro right down to the paper clip for disconnecting some wire plugs in the harness. Other "off the shelf" Walbros do NOT allow you to maintain factory effieciency....you cant. The racetronix pump is modified, so it will fit inside the sending unit bucket. Other pumps are too tall, or do not allign. Even if you manage to align it, you still must somehow ensure a good seal at the botton (racetronix has a rubber gasket, and even some grease to apply). After you've cut apart your factory bucket and rigged up some sort of seal, you still have to weld wires of crimp them into the factory ones, while racetronix supplies you with brand new wires.

So the $150 setup includes:
-Walbro 255lph @ 43.5 psi pump
-New wires/harness for pump
-Bucket glue
-Silicon grease
-Bucket glue
-Paperclip

follow these instructions for install: F-LT1 Racetronix Fuel Pump Install

It also includes:
- flex tube
- gear clamp
- o-ring seal
- gasket
- custom 30 micron filter sock for the fill bucket to protect the Walbro pump.

The wiring is designed to replace all the old factory wiring which in many cases is corroded or burnt.
