insanely dumb question....
insanely dumb question....
I am installing a roller pilot bearing when i do my clutch swap and i was wondering how much and what kind of grease i should use? I know this is retarded, but do i use hi temp wheel bearing grease, or regular stuff or nothing at all?
thanks

Re: insanely dumb question....
I used wheel bearing grease. I might suggest staying away from teh roller bearing ones and use a bushing. I've heard bad stories about rollers going bad and they tear up the input shaft on the tranny.
Re: insanely dumb question....
really!?! i was always told that the bearings are better..that is weird.
what exactly happens with the bearings? Thank you guys very much for the new info and saving me a potentially huge mistake...

Re: insanely dumb question....
I have had a bearing fail. i was lucky that the input shaft wasn't harmed. The main reason bearings fail is lack of grease. Since I the bearing and the clutch, I haven't has any trouble with either. I now have 80,000 mile on both. The key is to pack the grease into the needle bearings.
Re: insanely dumb question....
i see, do you think it would just be easier to skip the bs and stick with the bushing...i mean atleast this way there is no risk of it flying into pieces.
