Inlet Air Temp. Sensor question
Inlet Air Temp. Sensor question
Last month my alternator belt came off and ripped the IAT sensor off the side of my procharger tubing, I plugged the hole so I wouldn't loose boost and get unfiltered air in. Sofar the car seems just fine like that, but I don't want to mess anything up, is this sensor important to anything, cause it runs just like it did before it came off.
From Fred (Injuneer):
If so, that's the inlet air temperature (IAT) sensor. If the wires are broken, you should have a DTC code for IAT sensor temperature. 94 and up will run fine without it. 93 needs it for the speed-density A/F control system.

With a "blower" car, I wouldn't run without the IAT sensor. I don't know what your programming looks like, but it should be set up to pull timing on high inlet air temps. The blower raises the inlet air temperature. If its working right, the I/C brings it back down. But if you have an upset in the blower or in the I/C you are going to have a higher inlet air temp, and it can lead to detonation, unless you pull timing.
