Injuneer shoebox help please code100

Today I had got on the car a little to about 5000 then the ses light came on went to autozone they said maf malfunction... I pulled it off cleaned it . Now I reset the Ecm and no code tested the voltage 6.2 volts.. Now by looking at those little springs in it one looks darker brownish, is there anyway you can tell by looking at it.... Oh I cleaned it a week ago, but the guy said check the bellow it might be getting air on in the sides....any other suggestions... Thanks Angelo

Hmm...you said you got the code, then cleaned the MAF, cleared code and it has not returned. It sounds fixed. Do you still have a problem? Just the discolored wire?

Monitoring with a scan tool would be one way of "seeing" if it was operating correctly. If you have no codes and it is running well, then you probably have nothing to worry about. The discoloration could be a stain or who knows what.

What does "tested the voltage 6.2 volts" mean? What voltage?

ok listen up!

The 6.2 volts was the reading I had got from unplugging the maf connector like shoebox has om his website. And I used the book or manual that you buy from off the shelf at the stores.. it says the voltage range from the maf or to test the maf is buy unplugging the maf and leaving the key in the on position... and it should read 5 to 6 volts...

You mean you got 6.2V on the yellow wire from PCM pin B19. That would prove the PCM, but wouldn't prove that the MAF sensor is producing the correct frequency signal, proportional to air flow. Did you also check for +12V on the pink wire at the MAF harness connector end?
