which injectors for LE2 package?

I am getting really close to ordering the le2 package but was curious what injectors I should get. I noticed it shows 30/36 lb injectors. What exactly do I get the 30 or 36 lb or is there something I don't understand? Also what brand do you recommend? Do I get high impedance or low? I am not sure if these car comes with high or low impedance. Sorry I am new to LT1's. Thanks for any help.

Re: which injectors for LE2 package?

Lloyd Elliot emailed me back with answers to some questions about the LE2 kit. He reccomends the 36lb injectors for the best performance. If you follow every recommendation he lists for this kit (58mm TB, etc, etc) he stated the LT1 should have 450-460 FWHP.

Re: which injectors for LE2 package?

The stock PCM only drives high impedance injectors. You can't run a low impedance injector off the stock PCM unless you add an external interface box. Check out the injectors available from Racetronix.

To get in the ballpark on injector size (NA), multiply flywheel HP x 0.07

460fwHP x 0.07 = 32.2 #/HR

Opt for the 36's and you will have room for future mods. There is no downside to running a slightly larger injector than you need.

Re: which injectors for LE2 package?

I went with the 42lb Racetronix injectors to leave the headroom for all the mods I'll be doing while the engine is still running on gasoline.

At the moment I have fewer mods than you do, yet the 42's run great.

Taking that into account, along with the price; and you may want to CONSIDER the 42lb injectors.

Naturally, whatever you choose, you'll need to get a new tune.

Re: which injectors for LE2 package?

42# would be 70% duty cycle at 600fwHP
If I tuned that for a 460FWHP setup, wouldn't that ruin the spray pattern?

Re: which injectors for LE2 package?

The spray pattern is determined by the pressure. It is not materially affected by the reduced pulse width..... same spray pattern, just sprays for a shorter period. Drive the injector to 90+% duty cycle, and the spray pattern will deteriorate though.

Re: which injectors for LE2 package?

so what injectors for a le2 setup pushing 440 rwhp , so 497flhp.

497 X .07 = 34.8

So would you want a 36lb injector?? I am having some problems finding some. The 42 lb SVO's would be over kill i think , but what do i know. Dont the SVO 30's flow 32?? So the 36 would be 38+ and the 42 would be 44+??

What do you think Injuneer??

Re: which injectors for LE2 package?

See Injuneer's post (above)

Too small = problems
Too big = no problem

The answer is yes, use 36lbs or larger.

From what I've heard. SVO 30's = 36lbs on our cars. Am I correct?

Re: which injectors for LE2 package?

IMO I would go ahead and get the 42# injectors. It will give you less duty cycle and you will have a little room for a little extra modding.

No, you are wrong.

An injector flow rated at 2.7bar (39.15psi) will only flow 5.4% extra fuel when operated at 3bar (43.5psi).

30 X 1.054 = 31.6 #/HR

Re: which injectors for LE2 package?

Fred, you could also use the rwhp x 0.08 rule.
