Could I get to the rings by leaving the engine in the car and pulling the heads?

I'd just need to pull the spark plugs to do a compression test right?

Assuming I reuse my block, how much would it cost me to do a rebuild to LT4 specs? I might as well do some improvements while it's out...

Depends if you have the heads...intake and stuff already. The LT4 kit costs like 1800 to 2K. I would just do a 355 and some headwork. Would be way cheaper and better than going for the LT4 conversion.
