Ignition question

I konw the coil makes the spark, but what exactly does the contol module do?

I beleive the ICM send the signal to the computer to fire the ignition. I just replaced mine.

reason I ask is cause I can get the coil on the spot for 25 anywhere, but 75 & special order for module

If you really need to replace yours, I suggest upgrading to an MSD or ACCEL box. Sure they are a little more expensive, but they are also better than the stock ones...
